2015: A Year in Review

2015 was a great year for the SIU Amateur Radio Club.

We had the largest number of licensees in quite a long time, and ended the Fall 2015 Semester with 12 licensed student/faculty members, including 4 extra class license holders (3 of which earning this level in 2015!)
We had contacts with over 120 different DXCC entities, many of which were all time new ones, with a contact on every continent. The band with the highest amount of entities contacted was 20 meters, with 100 entities. The club had around 2200 QSOs with a variety of modes. We finished Worked All States Phone and are very close to Worked All States CW and Digital, with 29 QSLs needed on Logbook of the World needed for their completion. This would then qualify us for Worked All States Triple Play.
We also competed in many different contests throughout the year, including various QSO parties, Field Day, CQ WW SSB, November Sweepstakes CW and SSB, Rookie Roundup and School Club Roundup. We also had contacts with several alumni on the bands, including Kelly Jones N0VD as TO4K in Saint Barthelemy during the CQ WW SSB contest.
Contacts were made with over 40 different school clubs this year, including an over hour long ragchew with W4ATC, North Carolina State University.
In addition, we earned 3 plaques from contests this year: look for them to be posted on here when we receive them.

We hope to work any visitors to this site on the bands in 2016!
